Ryan received his B.A. in Architecture from Yale College in 1963, and his Masters of Architecture from Yale University in 1968. He became a State of Vermont Registered Architect in 1978, and has worked with architectural firms in London, Hartford, New Haven, Amherst, and Brattleboro
Ryan has special expertise in green design and the design of energy-effcient homes. He is skilled in architectural photography as well as theater and set design. He has familiarity and experience with tradtional design, working drawings, planning, landscape architecture, and custom home theaters and audio visual schematics.
Among his residential design projects, he has done additions, renovations, accessibility-enhancements for existing structures, and design for new spaces. His work can be seen in Brattleboro, Dummerston, Newfane, Putney, and other towns throughout southern Vermont and New England.
Brattleboro commercial and municipal projects have included additions and renovations to the Common Ground restaurant, additional cinemas and renovations for the Latchis Theatre, and renovations to Holton Hall at the Austine School, among others.
Ryan has served as a volunteer and board member with organizations such as the Estey Organ Museum, Habitat for Humanity, the Town of Dummerston Planning Commission, and the Brattleboro Arts Initiative. He is a former member of the Brattleboro Museum and Art Center and the Town of Brattleboro Planning Commission.
